Helping Mothers Have Healthy Babies

Healthy Start Program

Healthy Start is a recognized programmatic success within the array of 96 funded Healthy Start programs nationally. Over 8,052 women and infants, representing approximately 75% of Project Area live births from 1993- mid 2006, have received Healthy Start services of which 6,260 women were enrolled during pregnancy, with an additional 1,792 enrolled postpartum or during Interconception. Success By 6® Program

Success By 6 is an initiative funded through the United Way of Central Maryland and managed by the local management Board, the Family League of Baltimore City. This initiative strives to meet three goals: that children are born healthy, that children live in safe and nurturing environments, and that children enter school ready to learn. More Info

In-Home and Center Based Family Planning Program

Since 2003, interconception care services have been provided to postpartum clients by a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), who is fully integrated into Healthy Start case management operations. Among postpartum women who have had a miscarriage or a fetal or infant loss, and would otherwise not be eligible for Healthy Start services, the Interconception Care Initiative provides a framework of services into which these women are recruited and enrolled. Healthy Relationship, Healthy Marriage Program

Healthy Relationship, Healthy Marriage: Exploring Relationships and Marriage with Fragile Families sessions are provided for Healthy Start case managed clients and their significant others on a weekly basis for 8-consecutive weeks. The sessions are co-facilitated by Healthy Start staff and community partners certified to facilitate the curriculum. More Info
